Our annual Sports Day was a fantastic success, thanks to hard-working students, the organisation of staff and the great weather.
Students from across Years 7 – 10 attended the event at Costello Stadium, after qualifying at a pre-sports day at school.
During the day, they competed in field and track events to determine who the winning tutor groups from each year would be.
Seven new school records were achieved during the competition:
Niamh Williams - 9.62m in the Y8 Girls Triple Jump.
Caitlin Ward – 28.48 seconds in the Y8 Girls 200m and 1:06:54s in the 400m.
Rob Jitaru – 10.27m in the Y8 Boys Triple Jump.
Ayatu Mututengwa – 5:01:03s in the 1500m. This record broken stood since 1989!
Rose Hewitt – Y9 broke the Girls 200m record at 27.85 seconds.
Charlotte Bell – Triple Jump record breaker in Y10 with 9.26m.
The top performers from the event will now be selected to represent Malet Lambert at track and field events against other schools in the Hull Schools Games in July.
Head of PE, Mr Ripley, was delighted with their effort and sportsmanship on the day.
He said, “A big well done to all pupils who took part in Sports Day. We had some great performances and our pupils showed great commitment and determination.”
“They were also very supportive of each other; cheering on everyone, regardless of their year or tutor group.”
