A selection of Year 7 and Year 8 pupils were invited to take part in an RE enrichment workshop today with external guests, Label of Love (Resonate), a local Christian group.
The workshop centred around some key Christian concepts such as the importance of forgiveness, respecting laws and showing mutual respect for all within our local, national and global community.
The session supports the fantastic work that pupils are doing in their RE lessons, by deepening their knowledge and understanding of Christian beliefs and teachings.
During the session, some pupils took part in the ‘’chocolate mousse challenge’’ to uncover some Christian key terms.
As part of the workshop, pupils had the opportunity to listen to the group leaders talk about Christian values such as a sense of responsibility, knowing right from wrong, and how to love and care for each other and the environment.
They also talked about worship and the difference between liturgical and non-liturgical services.
One of the visitors, KB, entertained the groups with freestyle rapping to give another perspective of how Christians might worship God in a non-liturgical service.
Some comments from pupils who attended the sessions:
‘It was exciting and KB’s song was upbeat and taught me a lot about Christian worship.’ Aaron, Year 7
‘I enjoyed that all pupils got involved in the session.’ Kaci, Year 7
‘I enjoyed learning more about Jesus’ and God’s rules and the sacrifices they made.’ Alisha, Year 7
‘I liked getting involved. It was fun!’ Suvanna, Year 8
‘I enjoyed listening to the rap and learning about the different beliefs. Great fun!’ Anon
