Year 10 Applied Business students went on a fun trip to LaserQuest in Hull last week – but with an educational edge!
On their course, students have to choose a local business to study and evaluate, and after putting their heads together they decided LaserQuest would be an ideal company to investigate.
The visit gave students a chance to gain a greater understanding of what franchises are, understand the different types of ownership, recognise how important a company’s location choice is, and find out more about the costs involved in starting a business.
Alongside all the business talk, they were lucky enough to get suited up and experience LaserQuest for themselves!
Mr Paul Bell, Head of Business, ICT and Law, led the trip and felt the students gained some useful knowledge from the visit.
He said, “Our contact, Tammy Edwards, gave a very insightful talk on her business, giving information that was incredibly detailed and useful for the students’ GCSE controlled assessments
“Our students participated brilliantly with some very structured and well thought out questions for our host.
“Despite the obvious attraction of the ‘laser tag’ games, the students never lost sight of the reason they were there and took full advantage of the highly informative talk that was delivered.”
