Malet Lambert School held a Christmas community cooking session earlier in the month to unite children and their parents in the art of making traditional Christmas puddings.
The ‘Let’s Get Cooking Club’ is a joint venture between the Learning Support Unit and Food Technology and has previously gone down very well with all who participate.
The aim of the initiative is to help students of all ages and abilities develop independent living skills, and this session took on a particularly festive theme thanks to the time of year.
Parents and carers joined pupils in creating Christmas puddings from scratch from a traditional all-in-one recipe, and set them aside waiting to be steamed by staff.
After all their hard work, parents enjoyed a cup of tea and a mince pie together – expertly made by pupils in the Learning Support Unit earlier in the day.
Later this week students will be packaging their puddings ready to be taken home for the festive season.
Parents who supported the session said they not only thought the session was ‘great’ & ‘very enjoyable’, but that they would gladly come to future sessions.
