Inter-school STEM event
Mon, 22 Jun 2015
A selection of enthusiastic Year 9 students took part in a special STEM event held at our school last week, which aims to encourage students to look ahead to careers and further education in STEM subjects.
The STEM day, organised by national company MCS Projects, included a varied timetable of activities for students to try - against the clock and against each other.
Four other schools were involved - Archbishop Sentamu, Howden School, Andrew Marvell and Sirius Academy - and students were split into mixed groups before the event started.
The groups had to complete various challenges including building motorised vehicles, programming with LEGO Mindstorms and attempting to use E-Fit software to create a replica of a suspected criminal.
Hull's Lord Mayor, Anita Harrison, visited to watch the activities take place and to hand out certificates to those who took part. She was delighted not only by the event and the students, but also by our school.
