We’d like to thank all of our pupils for making such a positive start to the new academic year this week. They were mature, caring and very respectful, during what has been a very difficult first few days. Our staff have also been wonderful over the past three days.
We do have a couple of housekeeping announcements.
- Uniform
As you know, we have very high expectations with regards to wearing smart school uniform. In general, our pupils are looking very smart. There are a small handful of girls who are still wearing tight/skinny trousers and some wearing short skirts. They have been given until Monday 14th to change these items. Those who do not will be isolated and if necessary, their parents contacted for a meeting.
In a very small number of cases, uniform has been delayed in its delivery from the uniform company. We have chased this up and have been guaranteed priority. Pupils awaiting ordered items will not be in any kind of trouble and should simply carry a short note from home explaining the situation please.
- Fizzy/Energy Drinks
A no fizzy/energy drinks rule began this week. Pupils are aware of this. Pupils are not allowed to have/consume any fizzy drinks whilst on site. This includes both energy drinks and ‘pop’. If pupils have these drinks they are to be confiscated. If they are unopened (safety seal still intact) they will be returned at the end of the day from student services. If the drinks are open then they will be tipped away.
Any pupils who are Diabetic or have another relevant medical need requiring them to consume these types of drink will have a pass that gives them permission.
The only fizzy drinks allowed on site are the sparkling fruit juices available from the canteen.
- Mobile Phones
As a school, we recognise that some pupils will want to bring mobile phones to school. Malet Lambert has very generous rules on mobile phones and for these to remain in place all pupils must follow the following rules carefully:
Phones must be set to silent and kept in bags or jackets during registration, lesson times and lesson changeovers.
Pupils may use their phones in school during break and lunch time.
We discourage pupils from bringing other high value devices into school.
In the unlikely event that pupils decide to break any of these rules, their phone will be taken from them by a member of staff and returned at the end of the lesson.
Please note that this policy will be reviewed during this school term.
Thank you
