Courses
The Sociology GCSE was introduced due to the increased interest from our pupils wanting to learn about the wider world and open up their imagination. The course is extremely popular which reflects pupils’ ever growing interest and understanding of the world around them.
The GCSE course is 100% externally assessed through two exam papers at the end of the two years. The first paper covers the sociology of families and education which allows them to access the second paper crime and deviance by giving them an understanding of the key social structures.
Throughout both papers, the sociological perspectives and sociologists are covered along with research methods. Sociology really opens up the doors for those pupils looking at other social sciences or indeed wanting to show further education and employers they have a greater understanding of the world.
Extra Curricular
There is always the opportunity for additional classes to complete work which will be timetabled with your teacher.
Pupils are expected to complete additional work in their own time and are recommended books and other readings to increase their knowledge and understanding.
The innovative way that the course is taught allows pupils to be stretched and challenged through the extension topic in their virtual classrooms.
