Our school catering facilities work on a cashless swipe-card system.

The school lunch menu works on a 3 week rotation and provides pupils with a range of hot meal options each day. In addition to the menu, sandwiches, pasta pots and salads are available daily.

All items on the lunch menu are labelled for allergens, however if you have any questions please contact us.

Free School Meals

Malet Lambert offers a free school meals service to ensure that all of our pupils are able to enjoy a good quality, nutritious meal during the school day, regardless of their circumstances. Parents and carers could save up to £456 per year for each of their children.

Pupils can choose from a range of healthy meal deals, including a main course and a pudding.

Free School Meals Eligibility Changes

Malet Lambert encourages parents and carers to apply for free school meals.

From the start of the 2026 to 2027 academic year, the DfE are expanding FSM eligibility to all children from households in receipt of Universal Credit regardless of household earnings. Free school meals are available to pupils in receipt of, or whose parents are in receipt of, one or more of the following benefits:

  • Universal Credit
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

A pupil is only eligible to receive a free school meal where both:

  • a claim for this support has been made
  • their eligibility has been verified by the school where they are enrolled or by the local authority

Households may also be entitled to a meal if they:

All current FSM eligibility is to be re-assessed in line with the above criteria. If the claim does not meet the criteria, the ability to claim a free school meal will expire at the end of the current academic year. From 1st September 2026, only families that have the above listed benefits will be eligible.

If your child is currently at Malet Lambert and in receipt of Free School meals, eligibility re-assessment will be done automatically in line with the criteria described above. Your eligibility will continue from 1st September 2026, unless you are notified by the Local Authority (Hull City Council) that you are no longer eligible.

If your child will be attending school in September and you have not yet applied for free school meals but think you may meet the criteria, please visit the Hull City Council website to apply.
