The school offers a diverse and challenging Physical Education curriculum which includes team games and a variety of individual sporting activities. Team games include football, rugby league, volleyball, table tennis, handball, basketball, softball, rounders and netball. In addition to these activities we offer trampolining, fitness and athletics. In many of these sports we compete against other schools, taking part in local, regional and national competitions, with the school enjoying great success.

The department is incredibly enthusiastic about promoting sporting excellence, whilst ensuring that inclusion is held in the utmost importance.

We have a state of the art sports complex consisting of two sports halls, an activity studio, a fitness suite access to state of the art classrooms. We are lucky to have extensive playing fields, netball/tennis courts and a floodlit 3G football pitch. These facilities are heavily used, both by the school and the local community. All our PE staff are qualified to teach the subject.

Courses

All pupils study core PE throughout Years 7-11. In Key Stage 3 pupils will complete 8 lesson units of work in a wide variety of sports / activities.

At Key Stage 4 pupils receive the option to choose one of the following strands: Competitive Individual or Team Activities, Health & personal Fitness, Leadership or Lifelong Participation.

OCR GCSE PE and OCR Sports Studies are available as option subjects in Key Stage 4.

Extra Curricular

Alongside a broad curriculum, we offer a diverse range of extra-curricular activities and opportunities. We promote excellence, but value inclusion equally, with all clubs accessible for everyone.

Our extra-curricular activities broaden horizons, promote healthy lifestyles and lead to lifelong participation.

We have experienced high levels of sporting success, including multiple national cup wins in football and rugby.
